Dance Classes - Mampara Dance Academy
• Commercial Dance:
Drawing on the funkiest routines from MTV and mixed styles of commercial dance to build your child's rhythm and coordination skills. This fun-filled session breaks down the steps for each week's routine, covering both the basics and more challenging moves, whilst encouraging your child to let go and have fun to their favourite music.
• Jazz:
An energetic and lively class, jazz is a fun and creative way to build dance skills and technique. Combining elements of strength, technique and control from ballet, theatricality and razzle dazzle of Musical Theatre and the upbeat funk of street dance students won't even realise they're working hard!
• Foundation Ballet:
A brilliant foundation to all movement disciplines, ballet is the core of all muscle strength techniques for powerful and elegant movement, control, balance and grounded dance. Improve all over body strength, flexibility, elegance, coordination and posture.
• Choreography:
We believe all dancers should understand the roll of dance in creative expression and all our classes involve choreography tasks and group activities where individuals learn how to put together choreography and how to teach steps to their peers. We teach them how to use formations, motifs, levels, canons, oppositions and transitions to create interesting pieces for class, auditions and performances.
• Contemporary Dance:
We often introduce students to the more creative aspects of dance through contemporary dance which offers students the freedom to integrate all styles of movement, gymnastics and body control into their work. This is especially popular at our holiday camps.
• Performance & Competition Teams:
All our students have the opportunity to join competition and or performance groups every term if they wish to. Once a year we also take a group to perform in the West End in front of 1000 people as guests of the Jazz Repertory Company. Our competition groups compete every term in a range of styles. Most recently we came first in the BCA Summer Showdown!

London Roses Cheerleaders:
Jets • Spitfires • Hurricanes
Mampara Dance's Cheerleading Squad - The London Roses - has 3 teams for ages 5 years and over, training for recreation, performance and competition. We run multiple school teams and event workshops and camps. We compete termly at National Competitions and have performed at The London Oval, for England Basketball, for The London Warriors, the RFC, The London Marathon, the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and more!
With our very own cheer academies in Barnes / Hammersmith and Fulham we have excellent facilities with professional grade gymnastic mats, mirrors and high ceilings. As a high energy, athletic and demanding team activity, athletes make life long friends, build confidence and improve fitness as they build stunt, gymnastic and dance skills.
WHAT IS CHEERLEADING?
Cheerleading combines a wide range of skills in a team based activity in which there is a place for everyone - for great dancers, for strong bases, for tiny flyers, for powerful tumblers. It's athletic, exciting and all inclusive involving stunts, pyramids, gymnastic tumble passes, jumps and dance. Started in the USA as a male only sport, with four past US Presidents having been on University cheerleading teams, it is now the fastest growing sport in the UK. Soon to become an Olympic Sport, it facilitates relationships between athletes of all ages as the variety in height and build is required for the many varied aspects of a cheerleading routine.
It is excellent for fitness, for building confidence and for making friends. It's high energy, high spirited and collaborative, demanding focus, commitment and team work. And it's brilliant!
We have recreational training for athletes that just enjoy the weekly sessions, performance teams for sports and charity events and competition teams who go to National and Regional events every term. We have school clubs and holiday camps and workshops throughout the year.
Gymnastics, Conditioning, Cheerleading
Cheerleading uses elements of dance drawn from Commercial Dance, Jazz Dance and it's very own dance genre, Pom Dance. Fantastic fun and great for core strength and cardio stamina, dance training improves expression, stage presence, flexibility, strength, confidence and posture. We cover safe cardio warm up and stretch techniques, conditioning and technique exercises, flexibility, choreography (including how to use formations, transitions, levels, canons and oppositions), self expression and creativity.
• Stunt Classes:
Stunt training works for stunts from level 0-4. Stunts are elements of a routine in which one person (the flyer) is lifted by one or more people beneath them (the bases). Challenging and fun, children of all abilities and builds love stunting, which involves precise team work as athletes have to listen to each other so the whole group synchronises exact timing for a stunt to hit. Excellent and building strength, there is a place for everyone in a stunt group, from tall backs and strong bases to tight and strong flyers.
• Gymnastics Classes:
With top level (5/6) BGU gymnastics coaches on staff, cheerleading gymnastics focuses on the tumble elements of gymnastics and will put all students through their paces. We help athletes progress from basic inversions and forward rolls, through cartwheels to handsprings, standing and running tumble passes and everything in between. Nothing beats the face of an athlete nailing their first cartwheel. And once they start...they'll be upside down everywhere!
• Conditioning:
The foundation of all good grounded dance technique comes from great core strength and body control. Incorporated into all our classes and available as stand alone sessions either privately or in groups we have taught conditioning courses everywhere from local schools to Spirit Young Academy and Sadler's Wells
Recreation • Competition • Performance • Social
Athletes do not have to join our performance and competition teams but are welcome to enjoy training and classes for the personal gains of fitness, fun, friend making and confidence building.
• Performance & Competition:
All athletes, whatever level, are given the opportunity to perform and compete every term should they wish to. This might involve the end of term show for parents, a performance on TV with Davina Mccall, or joining the official performance squad for England Basketball's Cup Final matches. Similarly we compete all levels and ages at regional and national competitions throughout the year often placing top three. Other performances have included for The London Marathon, at The London Oval, for The RFC, on BBC, ITV and in The West End.
• Social:
Perhaps the most important aspect of training is the team they join. Cheerleading is such a close collaborative activity with precision timing and group work, often close life long friendships are born between athletes of different ages and from different schools. All our classes encourage every student to take on roles of responsibility. Everyone is invited in turn to take warm up and stretch sessions, everyone gets a turn running stunt groups and all are asked to work on choreography in small groups or to teach the team. It really is a great forum in which to learn team work, leadership and collaboration.
